Position Summary

CODI Manufacturing is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to design, develop, and support custom industrial equipment from concept through manufacturing and installation. This role works closely with engineering, fabrication, machining, assembly, controls, and customers to turn project requirements into buildable, reliable equipment.

The ideal candidate is technically strong, practical, and comfortable working in a hands-on manufacturing environment where engineering decisions directly affect fabrication, assembly, equipment performance, and customer success.

Key Responsibilities

Design custom machinery, equipment, components, guards, frames, conveyors, and mechanical assemblies
Create and revise 3D models, drawings, bills of materials, and manufacturing documentation
Develop equipment layouts, mechanical concepts, and detailed designs based on project requirements
Work closely with fabrication, machining, welding, assembly, and controls teams to support builds
Review designs for manufacturability, serviceability, safety, fit, and function
Support prototype development, first-article builds, testing, troubleshooting, and design improvements
Specify purchased components such as bearings, motors, gearboxes, sensors, actuators, pneumatic components, and hardware
Resolve design issues during manufacturing, testing, installation, and field support
Maintain accurate engineering documentation, revisions, and project records
Support continuous improvement of standard products, custom equipment, and internal engineering practices

Required Qualifications

Mechanical engineering experience in manufacturing, machinery, automation, or industrial equipment
Ability to create and interpret mechanical drawings, assemblies, and bills of materials
Experience with 3D CAD software
Strong mechanical aptitude and practical problem-solving ability
Understanding of materials, tolerances, fasteners, fits, fabrication methods, and machine design fundamentals
Ability to work with shop personnel, engineers, project managers, and customers
Reliable attendance and strong attention to detail

Preferred Qualifications

SolidWorks experience
Experience designing conveyors, packaging equipment, material handling systems, or custom industrial machinery
Experience with sheet metal, welded frames, machined parts, guards, and stainless steel equipment
Familiarity with pneumatic systems, motors, gearboxes, sensors, and automation components
Experience supporting equipment from concept through manufacturing, testing, and installation
Ability to travel for installation, startup, or customer support as needed
