Position Summary
CODI Manufacturing is seeking a skilled Automation Assembly Technician to join our equipment build-out team. This role is focused on the mechanical and structural assembly of complex, custom automation systems. It is an ideal fit for someone with a strong mechanical background who enjoys seeing a project through from individual components to a fully functional industrial machine.
In addition to in-house assembly, this position may require occasional field service work, including equipment installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance at customer sites.
Key Responsibilities
- Assemble complex mechanical systems, conveyors, and custom automation equipment according to engineering specifications.
- Read and interpret detailed mechanical drawings, fabrication prints, and assembly schematics.
- Use hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring instruments to ensure accurate builds.
- Collaborate with shop leads and engineers to resolve design or build issues during assembly.
- Travel to customer locations as needed to support equipment installation, startup, and field repairs.
- Inspect assemblies for quality and functionality before they move to controls integration or shipping.
- Operate forklifts and material-handling equipment safely to move large assemblies and components.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
Required Responsibilities
- Proven experience in mechanical assembly, industrial equipment build-out, or a related technical field.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to read and accurately interpret complex mechanical drawings and blueprints.
- Willingness and ability to perform field service work and travel to customer sites as required.
- Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and measuring equipment such as calipers and micrometers.
- Reliable attendance and a strong commitment to shop safety.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs. and safely move and handle materials and assemblies.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with pneumatic systems, sensors, and basic electrical components.
- Prior experience in a custom, low-volume, or job-shop manufacturing environment.
- Forklift or material-handling certification.
- Experience with stainless steel and aluminum assembly for food and beverage or pharmaceutical industries.
